www.iKohChang.com - The Battle of Koh Chang took place on 17 January 1941 during the French-Thai War and resulted in a decisive victory by the French over the Thai Navy. Despite the fall of France in 1940 the Vichy government still held sway over France's colonial territories abroad. One of these territories was French Indochina, what we know today as Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. With the defeat of mainland France, obvious doubt was thrown over her ability to defend the far-flung outposts of the empire. French Indochina held a particular attraction to her neighbour to the west, Thailand. อนุสรณ์สถาน ยุทธนาวีเกาะช้าง อ่าวลึก ใกล้หาดทรายยาว เป็นสถานที่ การรบที่เกาะช้าง หรือที่รู้จักกันในนาม ยุทธนาวีเกาะช้าง เป็นเหตุการณ์รบทางเรือ ที่เกิดขึ้นในกรณีพิพาทไทย-อินโดจีนฝรั่งเศส อันเป็นผลสืบเนื่องมาจากการที่ไทยเรียกร้องให้ปรับปรุงเส้นแบ่งเขตแดน ไทย-อินโดจีนฝรั่งเศส เสียใหม่ โดยใช้แนวร่องน้ำลึกเป็นเกณฑ์ ตามหลักกฎหมายระหว่างประเทศ และหลักความยุติธรรม และให้ฝรั่งเศสคืนดินแดนฝั่งขวาแม่น้ำโขง ที่ฝรั่งเศสยึดไปจากเหตุการณ์ ร.ศ. 112 ให้ไทย ยุทธภูมิในการรบครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นที่บริเวณด้านใต้ของเกาะช้าง จ.ตราด เมื่อวันที่ 17 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2484 และถือเป็นการรบทางทะเลครั้งเดียวในประวัติศาสตร์กองทัพเรือไทย และรัฐบาลวิชีฝรั่งเศสในช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง

We began our Koh Chang tradition to stop, no matter how much we'd eaten, and finish off the day with a tasty and extremely cheap dessert. Yummy... I miss them already...
